According to the American Library Association, "Like information literacy, digital literacy requires skills in locating and using information and in critical thinking. Beyond that, however, digital literacy involves knowing digital tools and using them in communicative, collaborative ways through social engagement."
In other words, digital literacy and information literacy are closely linked, because most of the information people consume today is delivered through online channels. However, digital literacy is being able to use technological tools effectively and information literacy is a skillset that allows individuals to evaluate how to formulate a research question, where to look for relevant information, how to assess if that information is credible and how to use it ethically.
